Building Effective Cross-Functional Teams to Help Students Persist

In order for students to get what they need to stay enrolled and succeed in college, campuses must make sure the right people are in the room together, coordinating efforts. Developing “persistence teams” or similar groups means cutting across traditional administrative structures and fiefdoms to promote a student-centered perspective.

This webinar will explain how to build these teams from the ground up, how to get them going, and how to make them efficient. Hosted by a Chronicle editor, the session will include two campus leaders who have been instrumental to these efforts at their institutions.

During the hourlong session, participants will learn:

• Which administrative units traditionally don’t coordinate but need to.
• How new structures can set up cross-functional teams to produce results.
• What new roles and responsibilities improving student success requires.
