Diveristy Equity & Access
The Diversity, Equity & Access Committee was created to develop policy recommendations and implementation of programs to assist those who for some reason of poverty or other experiences, have been denied access to postsecondary educational opportunities. The DEA will provide support and resources to under-served members of PNACAC. The scholarship application for the Guiding the Way to Inclusion Conference is now available.

Guiding the Way to Inclusion Program
July 28-30, 2009
San Francisco, CA

About the Program
GWI is a three-day annual professional development workshop for postsecondary admission counselors and enrollment professionals who assist underrepresented students and their families in the transition from secondary to postsecondary education. The workshop is tailored to address current multicultural and diversity issues in higher education. GWI provides in-depth understanding of the components of multicultural recruitment as they relate to the college admission profession.

The 2009 curriculum includes the following current and relevant topics:
  • Effective multicultural recruitment in a stressed economy
  • Creating and enhancing the strategic multicultural recruiting plan
  • LGBT campus communities as a regional or national trend
  • Cultural competency in a changing admission landscape
To further enhance this year’s program, attendees are encouraged to bring:
  • their institutional mission statements
  • their current diversity recruitment plans
  • information on diversity recruitment budgets
  • details on five years of diversity enrollment numbers
  • laptops to take notes and send daily logs/updates back to their director or supervisor
Additionally, participants will be emailed a list of recommended preconference reading on national diversity issues.

Who Should Participate
All college admission officers with 0-5 years of experience, and those who assist students from diverse ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds. College Admission officers with more years of experience are encouraged to attend to serve as mentors.
